Dan Cook (ASCAP) is a composer and arranger from San Antonio, Texas. He began singing at the age of four and started playing the trumpet when he was ten. Dan has dedicated his life to music, earning a degree in music education from The University of Texas at San Antonio. For over a decade, he taught both band and trumpet in the public school system of his home state.

Dan’s love for composition grew from his years as a freelance marching band arranger, a path that began with his early drum corps experience. He studied theory and harmony with Reed Holmes, counterpoint with James Balentine, and composition with Ethan Wickman, James Syler, Caroline Mallonee, and Marcos Balter. Today, Dan is interested in how human society connects with the natural environment. He writes music for choirs, chamber groups, and large ensembles of all skill levels.
