Noir (an unaccompanied soliloquy)

March 20, 2021

Sonata for Trumpet and Piano, program for third movement

Noir

an unaccompanied soliloquy

frozen in imposed darkness

A traveller is always at home

only as safe as her wits

honed by disappointment

when she expected fairness

and found only extortion

Paradise lay in self-reliance

allows her generous spirit

to shine on and be seen

to give succor to shattered eggs

scrambled bodies

and all the broken little minds

along the roadside

Her energy is proper reaped

and stored long term

Terra Sapien-style

winterized against

zombie secessionist libertarians

rolling coal noir bones

Snake eyes!

Noir

an unaccompanied soliloquy

stars drench the night
